“Healthy Chicken Recipes” are my most pinned subject on Pinterest (Aside from cute puppies).

I’ll admit that I LOVE chicken as much as puppies and can probably eat it every day (Chicken…not puppies, to be clear).

There are so many ways chicken can be cooked. You can fry it, bake it, grill it, and boil it.

You can make it BBQ, Cajun, spicy, sweet, sweet, and spicy…the different ways to season chicken are endless!

 

 

Chicken doesn’t only taste great, but it has some excellent benefits:

 

  • It can help you lose weight and build muscle
    • High protein diets are more filling than low protein diets when calories are equal (1) (2) (3).
    • High protein diets increase fat loss while sparing or even increasing lean body mass than low protein diets when in a calorie deficit (4).

 

  • Chicken contains B12
    • Vitamin B12 is needed to ensure proper neurological function, red blood production, and DNA replication (1).
    • According to the National Institutes of health, 3 ounces of chicken breast gives us 13% of our B12 daily value (1).   

 

  • Chicken contains choline
    • Choline is needed to produce a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is essential to ensure our mood, muscle control, memory, and other cognitive and nervous system functions are working correctly (1).
    • According to the National Institutes of Health, 3 ounces of chicken breast gives us 13% of our daily choline value (1). 

 

  • It Promotes bone health.
    • A 2009 study determined that a high protein diet, combined with adequate calcium intake, higher bone mass density, and fewer bone fractures (1).
